How to De-clutter Your Space

Do you have lots of knick knacks? Are you a collector who has lots of sterling silver jewelry? Are you a sewing enthusiast? You’ve probably got tons of little things that need storage at home or other place. But storage doesn’t have to mean ugly and practical. It can be pretty as well.

Plastic is the easiest solution. There are many types of plastic containers being sold today for different types of things such as Christmas ornaments or clothing. What is important is that the lid locks in order to help keep moisture and damp out. Inserts can be found for these boxes which can help to organize little bits and bobs. These are perfect for storing jewelry, keeping the sterling silver rings away from the gold. The compartments keep it sorted.

An old drawer box got recycled by recovering with wrapping paper. You can paint it if you prefer. The tiny boxes are superb for holding various odds and ends for crafting.

Glass jars shine beautifully in sunlight so place them close to a window. You can find these containers for almost nothing in second hand shops or Red Cross shops. Purchase similar sized or similar typed jars for a unified look and give them a good wash. Filled with your treasures, they will create a beautiful look.

Tins, stacked up in a bookcase make terrific storage. Again, find these in second hand shops for almost nothing except a little cleaning. Filled with junk, no one will ever know what’s inside them without opening them.
Boxes are of course the old standby. But think outside of the box. Any type of box works great. Recover or decorate recycled plastic ice cream boxes. Find unique boxes in import shops. The enameled food storage boxes from Japan can help to create an exotic look for your room décor.
Home improvement superstores are not just for men! You can find plastic drawers for nails and screws which are perfect for buttons or other sewing paraphernalia. Fishing tackle boxes are perfect if you need mobile storage containers. You can move them from room to room.

Personalize your space. When you go on holiday, find cups or boxes or drawers to bring back as souvenirs. When you look at these items, it’ll take you back to a wonderful memory. And of course, it will look great sitting in your home!
